How To Change My TN Visa To An E2 Visa
Hi, everyone. My name is Angie Rupert. I’m the founder of Rupert Law Group. We help people in all treaty countries move to all 50 states. So, no matter where you are or where you wanna be, we can help with your E2 visa.
Today, I’m going to talk about the transition from a TN visa to an E2 visa. It’s a very common transition, and I get questions about it all the time. So as many of you know, probably you that are watching this video, the TN visa is for Mexican citizens and Canadian citizens only, and it’s a special work visa. So those are also two treaty countries. So working in one job as a TN visa holder and then switching to an E2 visa holder is a very common change.
For those of you who are currently here as a TN, you will likely be starting your own business in order to get the E2 visa. That’s not 100% the case, but probably the case for most of you. So in order to get the E2 visa, you’ll need to abide by all of the requirements and make sure they are all met. Those requirements have to do with nationality, which you’ve already met. If you have a TN visa, you are a national of a treaty country. You also need to show a substantial investment in a real and operating business that is not marginal. Now, all of those requirements can be found on my website, broken down into intense detail, probably more detail than you ever wanted. However, just know that the TN visa will in no way help nor hinder your application for the E2 visa. They are completely separate and they do not share any of the requirements other than the nationality requirements.
